What did people do before the Personal Computer age? Or as some of us might call it today the prehistoric days? Im sure if you tell a 7 year old that you were born before iPod ever existed the look on the childs face will make U feel as old as a dinosaur !!!! :)
The last couple of years my life (or lack there of ! lol ) has increasingly become packed in this box set on top of my desk in my bedroom called my Computer!. I dont get out of the house much, most of my day is spent sitting infront of my computer,doing various tasks, social networking, watching or reading tutorials for various video production softwares, blogging, twittering,reading on the latest released or up and coming gadgets and softwares, chatting, watching video streams of other peoples lives!!, and up until a couple of months ago streaming live video and chat of my own !. So not only do I not have an actual social life now this has affected my Rheumatoid Arthritis as well !! Sitting infront of the computer for hours a day in one position for me is like drinking poison for a totally healthy person! Another thing I have noticed is how out of touch
But dont get me wrong once in a while when my parents manage to get me out of my room kicking and screaming (LOL), I actually have a great time !!.
I know people that have it even worst than me !! Friends of mine who are OPs on ustream.tv and wyldryde IRC (geek talk LOL ) Fireman 17 and CM!
Fireman17 is basically a 24/7 OP on both those networks!! When I say 24/7 Im not kidding you and he is also a volunteer fireman during the day ( one step ahead of me there cause atleast he has a semi job out of the house!! ) This poor soul doesnt get any sleep at night except for maybe 20 or 30 minutes a night!! How he survives this is beyond my understanding!! To give U a better understanding of the scope of his online 24/7 activities I should tell you that he has to police at least 30 or so chatrooms on ustream.tv and at least 30 or so chats on the wyldryde network!!
The same thing but at a smaller scale goes for CM.
If you are just an occasional internet user then you are not at all familiar with what Im about to talk about, but if U are an avid internet user like myself and my friends CM and Fireman17 then U may even have experienced what im about to talk about.Internet bullying and harassment!!. Im not going to go into alot of detail about this cause its out of the range of the topic of this post. But I will say this much. A few months ago me and a group of my online buddies went through a big Internet bullying and harassment case that got dragged for a few months almost everyday the same group of people from ustream.tv would harass me and my friends!!. Dont get me wrong Im not writing this to start up anything with ustream.tv or those people (most of whom Im friends with now cause they manned up and apologized ), but Im just mentioning it as a side effect of losing your life to the attractive trap I call the Internet !!. The amount of stress that this can cause in someone's life ( or lack there of ) that is wholly internet dependant, is incredible and can even cause physical and emotional sickness and illness and distress!. Now my friends Fireman17 and CM are going through something similar but I doubt as intense as what I went through, by the same group of people who masterminded the attacks on me back then !! for more info on that go to :

Back when I used to stream live video on http://www. Ustream.tv, http://live.yahoo.com/paykan and other streaming services, I had become this hypnotized zombie, sitting at my desk staring at my monitor, waiting for people to come in to my chatroom so I could talk to them!!! I would not even get out of my room for dinner or lunch!! Id bring them up and eat infront of my camera setup so I could chat with the peeps in my chat room!! For a while id even leave my camera on at nights when I went to bed and my stream truely 24/7 so people could watch me sleep!! LOL, so I finally came to and saw it for the horrific addiction that it was since about 2 months ago.
With the rapid growth in popularity and number of social networking sites, Instant messaging programs, smart phones and devices I foresee a sudden crash and halt of this culture coming soon, either that or an isolationist way of life brought on by the abuse or miss use of devices or programs that were once designed to bring us together!!!

idk I think we won't be to bad. Even though I love my ifriends I don't spend my entire life in front of a computer. I think we will evolve. Bullying on the web has gone on for years! I remember being a victim of it back in the 90's. I think what it's really going to come down to is parents monitoring people and people understanding that they are talking to another person on the other side of the screen.

Great blog post Paykan! Thanks for sharing and for bringing to my attention the use of my company name on another blog. For the record, there is no "bullying" of this kid going on from either myself or techiegal as he has indicated in his blog. What a joke! I didn't realize the decision to disassociate from someone is now considered bullying. When did this happen? I'll be more than happy to share my communications with this person with anyone that cares to look at them. The fact is simple...I have simply chosen to not have further involvement with him. This is not bullying...simply a matter of personal choice.

Well Paykan, your opinion is your opinion. I look it a little different. I think the computer and the social interaction that can comes along with it is a different form of interacting with people. I am real and so are all of the people that you talked with online. Don't get me wrong, that is not to replace interacting with people face to face. But it is real. It is a new form of commuicating.
ReplyDeleteI guess it comes down to everything in moderation. Instead of broadcasting hours upon hours, why not limit it to certain time frames. Maybe that was too difficult for you. Maybe you had to give up the live stuff cold turkey. I personally limit my live online time. Usually it is evening time and it is not every night. Perhaps you could not cut back to less and had to quit it all together.
You need to keep in mind something. By you quitting the live broadcast cold turkey, you impacted other real people. It bothered me because I thought we were decent friends. But ya left cold turkey and did not say anything. I guess we were not as good of friends as I thought. I felt that a truthful explanation would have been nice. Sometimes things have to happen like that to see where the frendship really is. And I found out. So did a few others.
Here is what I don't understand. You still are doing a lot of stuff online. You use that twitter thing a lot to tell people what you are doing. You use Skype to chat with people. You are using this blog to chat with people. Who knows what else. It seems to me you are doing everything but the live broadcasting. That is a little confusing to me.
I think you miss certain aspects of the Live thing. I think it is the people that are real that you miss. I know I sure miss talking to you. And I know some other people do as well.
I do understand what you are trying to say Paykan. But that does not mean I have to like it. I wish you would come on and keep it limited. But that is your call and I cannot make you do anything. I guess some people if they are alcoholics have to stop drinking all together and can't just cut back to being moderate in their drinking.
So that is my two cents Paykan. Take it for what is worth. I wish it would have turned out different, but it did not. Where it goes from here, I do not know.
As for Fireman and CM. I have sort of mixed emotions on those two. They treated you like garbage and they treated me like garbage. I know they sort of apologized for it to you, but it was only after they got the shaft. As far as what is happening with them now, I don't personally care. What goes around comes around. I do not feel bad for them but for me, first impressions last forever and even though they may have changed to some degree, that first impression still is etched in my mind. They probably do not care what I think. Eventually you know who will get hers too if she has not already.
Take it easy ok. You are a good guy. A strange one, but a good person.

I really liked your blog and I am truely sorry for everything that you was put through :( but alot of what you went through did not come from the people that you think it came from. Like the ugly pics..they was not made by the person that you kept wanting an apology from, the person that did it just let her take the blame for his stupidity, and what really gets me is he is your friend now. As for slander and harrassment coming from us, I have no idea what he is talkig about. We have not had any communication with him since April when we seen him for who he really is, a very troubled person. Anyway I hope you don't mind me reading your blog I really enjoyed it. ReplyDeleteYou need to get an handle on your daughter. While she may not have made those videos, she certainly did not stand up and say that was wrong. Paykan is not some psycho. Oh sure, he is a bit odd and crazy, but when it comes right down to it, he is really nice guy. Your daughter allowed things to happen that should not have happened. How much she was involved in it all, I do not really know. All you have to do is look at the trail of people who your daughter has left behind by allowing things to happen.
As for CM and Fireman, I don't really know too much about them. I know they treated Paykan bad along with a number of others including your daughter. The bottom line is all of them owe him a sincere apology. Ok, CM and Fireman did apologize after they got the shaft, from again, your daughter. I will give them that. I don't think a lot of other people apologized. You guys really hurt another human being and that was cruel.
My advice would be, do the right thing. And have a serious talk with your daughter and have her do the right thing. And that is a sincere apology. I think what is so disturbing is, your daughter and you do not think any wrong was done against Paykan. There was.
I will say this, Paykan is the better person in all this. He walked away. It was not easy because he felt really hurt and wanted to get back at all of you in some way, but in time he walked away. I applaud him for that as I know it was hard on him.
Again, do the right thing is all I say.
Let me start off by saying I am sorry Paykan for this getting posted here. I wanted to comment on your blog because I liked how you wrote. I didn't think that I would have to deal with this other person making his childish comments. As for Anonymous and anyone else (and that includes Christopher) that would like to discuss this issue I have no problem talking to you,or showing all of my emails on this subject because like you CM I also keep all of my emails, so you might what to rethink things through before you act like you have done no wrong. Let me quote you CM "I am putting up and I do not have to shut up" As for getting blamed for a fake email, I really don't take to kindly to that, I have not been in touch with you CM or the other two people that you say we have got to hate you and neither has my daughter or Anthony. ReplyDeleteYes, I still have all emails that you sent me... Even the ones that you said in " DONT TELL NAT THIS ABOUT ANTHONY" and I kept all those emails I want to say its like 100 emails.
But.... I am not going to be childish and bring out the emails.
THE TRUE REASON...I keep that email to myself JUST INCASE events like this arise and come up. Just for purposes like this.
I mean... the whole point of those emails are just DOCUMENTATION. Basically. heh I guess you can say.

I do care about Paykan and know he was treated poorly by your daughter along with others. That is a fact. Paykan is a good young man with a good heart. He did not do anything wrong to any of you. CM and Fireman and I know of a couple of others who apologized to him. At least those people did the right thing. Your daughter has not done the right thing and I doubt she ever will.
As for me using an anonymous handle, too bad so sad. I could make up any handle I want and would it really matter one way or the other. I don't think so.
Paykan probably does not care if your daughter admits her wrong and apologizes. I think he is done and over it. I am a lot less forgiving than what Paykan is. In fact, Paykan might not be happy with me at all for bringing this garbage up. That is fine. He can get mad at me if he wants to.
